Poole High Street remains popular with retailers

WHILE nation-wide confidence in the retail property market may be down, Sibbett Gregory is reporting that Poole High Street is continuing to attract retailers.
The Poole-based commercial property agents are pleased to confirm that they have been involved with considerable activity in shop lettings in the town’s
High Street in recent months.
Contrary to a negative perception that all occupiers remain cautious and that no-one is interested in taking units, Sibbett Gregory have almost all of their shops under offer.
Contracts have just been exchanged for a national retailer to take 92 High Street (pictured) with others moving into numbers 73 and 115 very shortly.
Number 71 High Street is under offer and a number of offers have been received for Harts and Jazz at numbers 112 and 114.
Director Stephen Coles said that works will shortly commence on both these units which will facilitate new lettings this summer. He added: “There is no doubt that retailers are finding it very difficult at the moment but there are still occupiers wanting to locate to Poole High Street. This is because a town centre location attracts the majority of customers. While out-of-town retailers are fine for groceries and bulky goods, it’s a more hurried shopping experience. With its café culture, the High Street attracts people who want to meet friends and socialise when they are out shopping, as well as offering everything together in close proximity.”
Sibbett Gregory currently have more shops in Poole High Street than any other agency.
In each situation landlords and tenants are undertaking works to improve
the buildings, encouraging further investment which will enhance Poole’s
competitiveness as a retail destination.
