COMMERCIAL property agents Sibbett Gregory have successfully completed the letting of Gervis Hall

COMMERCIAL property agents Sibbett Gregory have successfully completed the letting of Gervis Hall in Bournemouth’s Gervis Place.

It is anticipated the new tenant, Steamer Trading Cookshop, will open its doors to the public in the first week of September 2007. The Grade II listed building, situated opposite Bournemouth Gardens, comprises a total of 6,788 square feet over five floors. This included, 2,500 square feet of ground floor sales space. The whole property has been sublet as part of a six year deal, at a rent of £70,000 per annum.

Steamer Trading is currently enjoying its status of Cookshop of the Year –
an accolade the family-run business has won on four occasions. The store will provide a quality range of kitchen ware to include ‘everything for the keen cook and professional chef’ as well as fun items ‘which make a kitchen the heart of the home’.

Ben Phillips, Managing Director of Steamer Trading, said: “Since 1985 we have established 15 successful stores across the south coast which is an area we love. Bournemouth was a natural progression. It has always been a beautiful town and just recently it has become an exciting town, too. We always look for listed buildings to set up a store, and we are lucky to have found Gervis Hall which is a Victorian villa. We like to work with the character of a building to make it an interesting place for customers to shop.”

The new business will create 10 new jobs, and will employ only local people. The emphasis will be on providing customer service at the highest level.

Stephen Coles, Director of Sibbett Gregory, said: “We are very pleased to have found such a good quality operation for this interesting building in the heart of Bournemouth Town Centre.” Ben Phillips stated that Steamer Trading had been delighted with the services of Sibbett Gregory. “Gervis Hall was a fiercely contested site,” he said. “But they went full steam ahead for us.”
